Tooble News

We Are Back, We Are Back. Again, again.

Just before Christmas Tooble experienced an outage (much like the one from this summer). Again, YouTube made a number of changes which broke how Tooble downloaded videos. Again, our crack staff conquered the issue.

A huge thank you to all of the loyal users who sent in bug reports. The details you each provided were invaluable.

Most of us love to unwrap our holiday gifts as soon as possible, so we realize how frustrating the delay must have been. In the spirit of the season, however, almost all of you gave us the gift of patience…

Thank you so much!!!!!

New site for Tooble

Tonight we launched a new website. The new site lets Jesse and our other master coders focus on programming.

Earlier this month, YouTube made a number of changes which broke how Tooble downloaded videos. We fixed Tooble and everything is going swimmingly, but had a huge number of emails from people asking for help. We were drowning in support requests.

Now, all of the support requests all go to a single queue. No longer will we toss and turn at night wondering if we responded to all those emails for help.

Tooble fixed after recent YouTube changes…

Many of our loyal users noticed that Tooble stopped working at the end of July. This was a direct result of changes YouTube made to allow for longer videos and continue moving toward HTML5 throughout the service.

Since that change, we’ve been working furiously to fix Tooble. On August 6th we released an updated Mac application, and will have a Windows version available shortly. The next time you open Tooble you will be asked to download the newest version.

Thanks especially to our Tooble Pro users for sticking with us while we got everything working again.

Tooble developers give guest lecture at Yale University

High school students, Jesse T Youngblood, Steve Abbagnaro, and Praveen Savalgi, were invited to YEI to tell the story of a software product that they had developed over the past 18 months. The product, called tooble, is a free software utility that puts video from the popular YouTube website onto iPods and other mobile devices. The program, which started as an independent study project, has blossomed into a full-fledged software company that boasts the accumulation of more than 250,000 users in less than 6 months.

The so ftware became immensely popular after the students exhibited it at the MacWorld Expo in San Francisco in January of 2008. The Yale University students were very interested in hearing how these students managed to turn an idea into a hit piece of software in such a short time. Following the well-received lecture, the presenters were bombarded with questions from eager Yalies as to how they acheived their success.

The company was founded in 2006 by Dave Cook as a research and development business. It evolved into the success it is today after Sue Heintz, the teacher of the Cheshire Academy students, introduced them to Dave. The company has since been able to attract the interest of a group of investors, and has raised enough capital to see them through the next phase of development.
